The timing and flow of your wedding day is oh-so-important! When you nail your wedding day timeline, you can make sure you have a lovely morning getting ready, maximise party time with your guests, and get that gorgeous golden glow in your portraits.

The most important thing to factor into your wedding day timeline is sunset. (You can use this website to find out the sunset time on your wedding day!) If you start from there, it’s easy to work backwards and calculate the timings for the rest of the day.

For example, if sunset on your wedding day is at 5pm, the best lighting for your portraits will be from 4-5pm. Factoring in 30 minutes post-ceremony for big hugs and family photos, the best time for your ceremony would be 3pm. Here’s a little breakdown…

12.30pm to 1.30pm : getting ready photos of your love
1.30pm to 2.45pm - getting ready photos of you
2.45pm to 3.00pm - travel & a few deep breaths
3.00pm to 3.30pm - ceremony
3.30pm to 4.00pm - hugs & family photos
4.00pm to 5.00pm - bridal party portraits
5.00pm onwards - party time

Would you like your own personalised wedding day timeline?

Et voila! A perfectly timed wedding day. Of course there a few things that might change these timings… You might want to get ready together, or do a first look and some photos before your ceremony. In any case, I will work with you to develop the perfect wedding timeline for a perfect day. A little preparation goes a long way!
